Updating this site

This means if there are any issues you can restore your website.

Complete instructions to make a backup can be found in the Word Press Backups section of the Codex.

You should always update Word Press to the latest version.

When a new version of Word Press is available you will receive an update message in your Word Press Admin Screens.

You shouldn't need to do anything else and, once it's finished, you will be up-to-date. If you have any problems, it is probably related to permissions issues on the filesystem.

Word Press determines what method it will use to connect to the filesystem of your server based on the file ownership of your Word Press files.

All PHP versions below 5.6 are currently no longer supported.

If the files are owned by the owner of the current process (i.e., the user under which the web server is running), and new files created by Word Press will also be owned by that user, Word Press will directly modify the files all by itself, without asking you for credentials.

Word Press won't attempt to create the new files directly if they won't have the correct ownership.

Use the Templates category of the Assets panel to manage existing templates, including renaming template files and deleting template files.

You can perform the following template management tasks using the Assets panel: You can open a template file directly for editing, or you can open a template-based document, then open the attached template for editing.
